Braces
Today, there are truly many options to choose from for orthodontic braces. Although they all work using light forces to move teeth and allow for alveolar and gingival adaptation, they may be more or less suitable for each individual patient depending on their characteristics.

Today, there are truly many options available for orthodontic appliances. Although they all work using light forces to move teeth and allow for alveolar and gingival adaptation, their suitability for each individual patient may vary based on their characteristics.
Metal braces
Metal brackets are applied to each tooth and connected by very thin wires that gradually lead to dental alignment.
Ceramic braces
A dental hygiene session is considered essential once a year from the age of 7 onwards, when children are in the mixed dentition phase, meaning they already have some permanent teeth. Along with this, there is an oral hygiene lesson providing useful information on how to brush teeth at home and maintain good oral hygiene.
Incognito
It is actually the only truly ‘invisible’ appliance as the brackets are applied inside the teeth; the achieved aesthetics are maximum, but the patient requires a short period of adaptation in speaking and eating, given the position of the attachments.
Invisalign
Air Align transparent aligners: they are transparent trays, properly molded to the patient’s dental arch; they are worn for about 22 hours a day, removed during meals, and changed every 15 days. While they are comfortable because they are invisible and non-invasive during meals, on the other hand, they depend entirely on the patient’s willpower and consistency: they must be worn all day to achieve the desired results.
Removable appliances
Removable appliances are only worn for a specific interval of time each day, which can range from 8 to 14 hours. Typically, they are worn throughout the night, plus a few daytime hours excluding school hours for children. This category includes retention plates (used at the end of treatment to maintain the achieved results) or “Functional” appliances, which stimulate growth in the right direction by eliminating vices or negative forces. They are particularly suitable for children/adolescents, although they can work very well for adults in some cases. Removable appliances are never worn during meals. Each appliance is specifically tailored to that particular patient and their type of malocclusion, including the choice of preferred colors.
